Bishop Vincke's eNews 9/13/2019

E-News: September 13, 2019

New Priest: I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the ordination to the priesthood of Deacon Michael Leiker at 10 am.  I am really excited for Michael and our diocese.  I am also looking forward to being with you at the Priests’ Convocation next week in Wichita.

Help: Those who are Pastors and Administrators should have received a letter from me this week regarding the REVERSE THE RULING petition drive. For those who didn't the letter is attached. As not all Parishes have Respect Life Coordinators, I think it would be better for each Parish to identify one or two volunteers who are passionately Pro-Life and would be able to organize efforts on the local level. This will involve working closely with Chuck Weber and his staff at the Kansas Catholic Conference as well as Corey Lyon in the Diocesan Respect Life Office. Responsibilities will include making sure the petitions and post cards are available to parishioners, ensuring that announcements are placed in the parish bulletin and information posted in the church and they may also be able to speak after Mass at the Pastor's discretion. I am asking that each Pastor please identify these volunteers in your parishes by September 20 and submit the names and contact information to the Diocesan Respect Life Office. The easiest way for you to submit names is by completing an online form available here. You may also email them to This email address is being protected from spambots. Favor: Corey has received a few calls from around the diocese with regard to religious education teachers and safety and security procedures. Please ensure that your teachers and any other individuals working with minors have gone through the CMGConnect. As a reminder, the form listing your catechists and their certification status is due September 15. If you need any assistance with the training, please contact Wendy or Corey in the Safe Environment Office.

Teachers: This Sunday is Catechetical Sunday.  Please thank all of the teachers at our schools and the parish religious education volunteers for the work they do in teaching our young people.

Weekend: Besides the ordination, I am going to Cuba, Munden, and Belleville for Masses of Healing. Then, on Sunday afternoon, I will go to Pfeifer to dedicate the new roof of the Holy Cross Church.  Blessings on your weekend.
